Scholarship Gala 2024

Posted 4 months ago by Wendy Sawyer

On Sunday, December 8, 2024, members of the Concerned National Black Nurses gathered at the Julian Smith Casino in Augusta to celebrate another year of community and to award a scholarship to Ronesha Myers, a BSN student at USC Aiken. The theme for the evening was "Empowering the Community through the Development of Future Nurse Leaders".

Scholarship Gala 2024

Our guest speaker, Dr. Kendra Broussard DNP, is the Founder and President of “Leaders and Adolescents Uniting to Navigate Careers in Healthcare (LAUNCH)”. LAUNCH is the only early-exposure healthcare pipeline program in the area whose mission aligns with our theme to empower the community by developing leaders. At LAUNCH, K-12th graders from predominantly underrepresented minority groups and/or disadvantaged economic backgrounds get to explore healthcare careers and obtain free education in the healthcare environment. For the past two years members of the CNBN were available to support this endeavor. To the leaders in the audience, Dr Broussard in her impassioned address, advised us to lead with intention, advocate for others, respect others and to embrace discomfort in order to facilitate growth in ourselves and others.

It was a wonderful evening of networking and learning made possible by the members of the Concerned National Black Nurses. However, a special thanks to our Gala Committee- Antonio Golden, Kalon Hightower, and Tyciana Johnson- for their tireless efforts in coordinating this event.
