As a PH Nursing Program Consultant II within East Central Public Health District, you will join a dedicated group of public health professionals that help support the overall mission and vision of protecting lives of Georgian residents in a variety of ways.

Georgia Department of Public Health Commissioner and leaders encourages all employees to engage in regular wellness activities and to make lifestyle choices that promote health and well-being. The use of wellness breaks during the workday is authorized to support this philosophy and assist employees in meeting their wellness goals. A maximum of 30-minutes in a given workday may be used to engage in wellness activities, generally in the form of two 15-minute breaks or one 30-minute break.

Job Responsibilities

Management of the Children's Medical Services (CMS) Program to include

supervision of staff,

authorization of prior approvals and payments to vendors,

assure items/supplies purchased for client are within guidelines/matrix,

complete chart reviews and sign off on client's annual review/financial.

Management of the Children 1st Programs to include

supervision of staff and programmatic requirements. Supervision of the Early Hearing Detection and Intervention (EHDI) Coordinator

and the Babies Can't Wait (BCW) Coordinator.

Child Health Protocol trained and serves as resource to County Nurses for Child Health.

Supports the Immunization Program.

Supports the District during an emergency event.

All East Central Health District 6 employees are deemed essential workers in the event of an emergency. As such, you may be called on to participate in an event including but not limited to: staffing a shelter, working at a Specimen Point of Collection Site (SPOC) and/or working at a Point of Dispensing site (POD). If you are called on to participate, you are required to report to the designated site as a condition of employment, whether the emergency occurs during or outside regular work hours.

Minimum Qualifications

Master's degree in Nursing, public health or related field and two (2) years of PHN experience

OR Bachelor's degree in Nursing and five (5) years of PHN experience

OR Two (2) years of experience at the lower level PH Nursing Program Consultant 1

or position equivalent.

Current Georgia Registered Professional Nurse license (please attach copy)

Current CPR certification (please attach copy)

Two (2) years minimum experience in supervision of subordinate employees

Experience in child public health programs or general pediatrics

Experience working with federally funded programs and programmatic audits

MAPEP

Under the pre-employment fitness-for-duty this position is considered a

  • Category 4: Health-related:

Positions where medical knowledge and skills are required, such as nurses or therapists.

DPH accepts educational credential recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and/or the US Department of Education (DOE) will be considered. DPH will contact educational institutions to verify degree, diploma, licensure, etc.
